Emergency Veterinary Care for Farm and Home

Fredericktown Animal Hospital provides emergency coverage for our clients, as we are available for emergencies until 10:00 PM every evening. After 10:00 PM, you will be directed to a 24-hour emergency veterinarian. If your pet is experiencing an emergency please call our hospital at (573) 783-2348 and you will be directed on what to do to ensure you receive care as soon as possible. Please note: these extended hours are for emergencies ONLY. We are not open for business after our regular hours.
 

 

                    

 

 

The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for a pet is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general situations should help you determine if you need to seek out emergency care for your pet:

• Difficulty breathing
• Acute abdominal swelling
• Electric shock
• Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
• Excessive bleeding
• Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
• Repetitive and prolonged seizures
• Snake bites and insect bites
• High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
• Unable to urinate or defecate
